It looks shiny...but why? Because it's running Ubuntu, which is a distro of Linux that's based off of Debian. Ubuntu uses a desktop environment/GUI called GNome. On top of GNome they're using a theme manager called Beryl (Which is actually Beryl/Compiz now). This is what gives the windows the wobbly effect, the 4 desktops on the cube, the flashy effects on the menu windows and the genie effect on the minimize/maximize actions. Something this video doesn't show you is the ripple effects that you can do with your mouse, or when you move windows. Also, I don't think it showed you that you can set the transparency of multiple windows, or the ability to select windows across multiple desktops. This video and this video will show you a bit more of what Beryl + Ubuntu can do.
